Swot analysis on my blog

In this blog post I will do another SWOT analysis about my skills in relation to my blog. I will also give a explanation of what a SWOT analysis is.

SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. (SWOT Analysis: – How to Develop a Strategy For Success, n.d.). You use a SWOT analysis to make it clear what works well for you, and how you can use these strengths to your advantage. You also look at what you are not good at and how these things can impact your progress. A SWOT analysis comes with pros and cons. A pro is that it can be used for any situation and it can tell four different things at once. A con is that it is subjective which means that you cannot use it to get objective data from it. SWOT analysis on my blog.

Strengths

Fast worker, experience in writing and with WordPress, fast typing and drive to complete my work.

These strengths are all useful when working under a time crunch, I have to drive to finish my blog before the deadline and my ability to work fast allows me to write blog post quick but in depth. My writing experience stems from creative writing which I have been doing for a long time, this allows me to know what I want to say in a blog post before writing it. The speed at which I type is advantageous because it allows me to set up a quick draft and then work on giving it more depth. I have had a WordPress website for a few years so I did not have to learn how to make a post or a page for a specific subject.

Weaknesses

Procrastination, First time blogger and lack of motivation.

Throughout the year I should have been working on my blog but due to a lack of motivation I only did a few blog post at the start of the year. My previous experiences allowed me to ignore my procrastination and wait until the last minute to complete my blog. Even though I have experience in creative writing I have no experience in writing blogs. During my academic year I have learned how to write blogs and how to improve my writing.

To make up for these weaknesses I have invested time to research blogs and how to write them. I have also made sure to use reflective theories provided to us to discover underlying issues that are a potential cause of my procrastination.

Opportunities

Platform to express oneself and potential job opportunities.

This blog has given me the opportunity to express myself on a platform that I fully control, it allows me to say what I want and how I want. The idea of this freedom is very refreshing. The blog has also given me the opportunities for different types of jobs. I have applied for a course at Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam, but if that does not work out I will be able to apply to a job as a writer for a wide range of companies, one vacancy I found is to be a writer for an E-commerce company that would have me write product descriptions and reviews. my blog would be a good thing to show during an interview to show my writing abilities. I could also transform my blog into a review blog, which I could use to promote my own thought on the latest films and series. This could lead to a job at a magazine or newspaper to do their film reviewing.

Threats

Uncertain future and loss of interest.

One glaring threat is the uncertain times we live in at the moment. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic no one really knows what is next, it seems that so far in 2020 each month brings yet another disaster that shakes the world. This could mean that we could go into a recession which would mean it could be incredibly hard to get a job after college. It is also very possible that I lose interest in this blog and do not continue writing blog posts.

My opinion on SWOT analysis.

I think SWOT analysis are a great tool to really explore ones self or a company, it gives a clear and precise view of the person or company writing it. Personally I tend to do my reflective practices in my own mind without writing them down, however I want to continue to do my reflective practices on my blog because it gives me a feeling of clarity. Writing these reflective practices feel incredibly forced but I have discovered the advantages that they provide. I look back on my SWOT analysis not to check if I addressed these problems or weaknesses but to see how I saw myself or a situation at the point of writing, it gives me a good understanding of my past self.
